Is PeerPixel actually free?
Yes. Generating an image on PeerPixel costs $0. There is no paid tier, no subscription, no trial that expires and no credit card is ever requested. It stays free because there is no data centre to pay for: every image is rendered on a volunteer's own graphics card.
Do I need an account or a sign-up?
No. You can generate images as a guest, straight in the browser, without creating an account. Signing in with Discord is optional; it keeps your work attached to you and grants 20 pixels, the internal unit used for optional extras.
Do I need a credit card?
No. PeerPixel never asks for payment details, at any point, for any feature.
Is there a watermark on the images?
No. The image is delivered exactly as it was rendered, at full resolution, and the original download is always free.
How many images can I generate for free?
Guest generation allows up to 12 accepted images per IP each day, with a 30-second cooldown and one active job at a time. It runs on spare community capacity, so how quickly your turn comes also depends on how many people are rendering at that moment.
Will a guest username appear on my image?
No. PeerPixel uses an internal anonymous session to keep your job connected while it runs, but Home does not show that internal identifier or invent a public identity for you. Signed-in images credit the person who entered the prompt, not the person whose GPU rendered it.
What model does PeerPixel use, and how good is the output?
Every generation is a 1024x1024 image produced with FLUX.2 Klein 4B Base at 50 guided steps. Prompts are optionally enhanced by Qwen, which can apply one of seven styles. The original download is free. Signed-in users can spend priority pixels on faster queue access and a 4x AuraSR-v2 upscale.
How does PeerPixel stay free when other generators charge?
Other services rent GPUs in a data centre and have to recover that cost, usually through subscriptions, credit packs or ads. PeerPixel instead uses capacity that people explicitly donate from graphics cards they already own. Donated Free jobs pay zero pixels; Priority jobs pay their assigned contributor the full one-pixel generation price. There is no payment tier.
How is it different from Midjourney, DALL-E or Stable Diffusion sites?
Midjourney is subscription-only. Most of the free-tier sites are trials: free credits that run out, a watermark, or a queue nudging you toward a plan. PeerPixel is peer-to-peer, which makes it the only image generator of its kind that operates without a data centre. The trade-off is honest: you wait for a volunteer instead of a rented GPU.
Who owns the images I make?
You keep the rights to what you create. PeerPixel takes only the operational licence it needs to process, moderate, store and deliver your images, and to display images you choose to share publicly.
Is it safe and moderated?
Prompts are checked before generation and every result is checked before delivery. Narrow severe categories are blocked. Suggestive images can be delivered privately to their creator but never appear on Home automatically. Signed-in creators can appeal genuine filter mistakes.
Can I contribute my own GPU?
Yes, and it is always optional. Switching on the worker lets your card render Priority work for one pixel per accepted generation. Free work and private work each have a separate opt-in and both default off.
